Silvia Bonardi graduated in Veterinary Medicine at the University of Parma (Italy) and got a Specialization degree in Veterinary Legislation from the University of Parma as well as a Specialization degree in Inspection of Food of Animal Origin from the University of Pisa, Italy. She is Associate Professor in Inspection of Food of Animal Origin at the Department of Veterinary Science of the University of Parma. Since 2018, she has been appointed Director of the School of Specialization in Inspection of Food of Animal Origin of the University of Parma. She is Member of the Management Committee of the COST Action 18105 “Risk-based meat inspection and integrated meat safety”. Her research activity covers several microbiological aspects of food safety, including foodborne pathogens detection in food-producing animals as well as in wild game, pathogens survival and inactivation in food and detection of antimicrobial resistant bacteria in animals at slaughter. Her research activity is attested by about fifty publications on national and international peer-reviewed journals and seminars in EU and third countries.
