Stylianos Koulouris is a food technologist by training with postgraduate studies in food biotechnology (MSc). He was awarded the title of Honorary Doctor in food safety by the Sokhumi State University of Georgia in 2019. He is a Certified Food Scientist (CFS) by IFSCC, as well as a Member of the Hellenic Association of Food Technologists (PETET), of the register of main tutors of the Hellenic Center of Public Administration, and of the WHO Community of trainers for Chemical Risk Assessment. After several years working in the food industry and in the Hellenic Food Authority (EFET), he is currently serving as a Scientific Cooperation Officer in the Engagement and Cooperation Unit (ENCO) of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) as Project Manager for capacity building activities including the annual Parma Summer School and the coordination of BTSF trainings relevant to Risk Assessment in cooperation with DG-SANTE. He is coordinating the cooperation with EU Neighborhood countries (ENP). He has represented EFSA in different missions and events and was appointed by the EU Commission (DG-Near) in expert missions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Georgia. He participated in the design and setup of the European Food Risk Assessment Fellowship program (EU-FORA) and served the program initially as the Scientific Coordinator and later as the Programme Manager from 2016-2019. From 2012 to 2017 he was a tutor in the European Commission program “Better Training for Safer Food (BTSF)” for food improving agents. He has published food safety related articles in both Scientific Journals and General Public publications and contributed chapters in Scientific Books.
