“Innovative Food Products”

Parma Summer School, 26-28 September 2023

The 2023 Parma Summer School, organized by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), the University of Parma, the School of Advanced Studies on Food and Nutrition, and the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore Piacenza, will provide early-career researchers an opportunity to learn from some of the most prominent experts in the field of innovative food products. Over the course of the three-day program, participants will explore safety evaluation aspects of novel food and feed sources through a multifaceted lens, encompassing risk management, risk assessment, and societal considerations, drawing upon various disciplines, with particular attention to the EU legislative framework, sustainable food systems, alternative proteins and consumers’ perception of innovative foods.

Given the intricate nature of these topics and their interrelatedness multi-disciplinarily and multi-stakeholder approaches will be employed. The Summer School topics will be addressed across three different key areas:

• Risk assessment & legislative framework of food innovation
• Innovative food production technologies and tools
• Societal perception of food innovation

The event will be organized as a virtual meeting to be held in September 2023, 26th (afternoon), 27th (full day) and 28th (morning). Participation is free of charge.

We look forward to having you on board for a fruitful and virtual discussion!
